Hi and thanks for reading more about me.

I'm Bharat, based in Brooklyn. I'm an engineer, community builder, and robotics nerd. I've spent most of my adult life moving between continents, building things, and trying to figure out what actually matters.

My Story

I grew up between India, Nigeria, and New Jersey. Moving around like that teaches you to pick up languages quickly and wonder how different places solve the same problems. I've lived in California and Mexico City. Brooklyn is home now, though Mexico City feels like my soul city.

I spent most of my career with FIRST Robotics, a program that puts robots and teamwork in students' hands. I ran events and built the program in Turkey, Mexico, New Jersey, and California. Around 500,000 students have gone through competitions I've hosted. I don't say that casually. It's meaningful to me. I got obsessed with storytelling and teaching people how to find their voice through public speaking.

I appeared as a referee in the movie Rule Breakers. It wasn't planned. It happened because I made the right connections and did the work. I'm proud of the film because it supports women in education. I don't want to call myself an activist, but it matters to me that people know I was part of it.

I'm at a turning point. I've been in my current role for five or six years. I'm ready to try something different. I'm exploring starting something of my own or joining someone else building something I believe in. It's uncertain and exciting at the same time.

Work

I'm the Director of Engineering at WGSN. I build AI chatbot technology that forecasts trends in fashion, beauty, interior design, consumer tech, sports, and outdoor markets. The work lives at the intersection of AI and design. We help product teams around the world make decisions about what's coming next.

I've also hosted TEDxChelseaPark and spent years training in public speaking. I love coaching speakers to find their authentic voice. It's a skill I've built over time and something I want to keep doing.

Personal Life

I love hosting events. Storytelling nights, improv, dinners, dance parties. I'm most alive when I'm bringing people together. I moved back to New York a year ago and I'm getting back into it. I love electronic, pop, and rock music. People remember my laugh, which is fine by me.

I'm into biohacking in a specific way: using natural leverage to improve how I live. That means my Oura ring, red light therapy, intentional hydration, and cold exposure. I do Peloton for cardio. I've been to over 50 countries and I stay curious about how different places work. I spend a lot of time on coffee, meditation, and learning about how people actually change. These things shape how I show up.
